Manager, SRE – Design & Build

Oversaw SRE and performance solutions for network, SAN storage, compute, and server-based operating systems, as well as application, database, and incident management systems. Led and coached team of 8–10 SREs of various infrastructure and data disciplines, providing opportunities for team performance and individual professional growth. Managed $10M+ annual CapEx/OpEx budget and created standardized roadmap documentation per planning, procurement, NPV, and ROI analyses. Set and executed operational strategy for solution and product health monitoring; developed and defined requirements for critical KPI data collection, incident management, reactive/proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting.

Key accomplishments:

  • Supervised department relationships with 6 third-party vendors ($5.5M+ annually), aligning internal strategic initiatives to vendor roadmaps, managing open communication channels, and certifying vendor contract compliance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Negotiated and strategized purchase timelines, saving $1.2M+ through vendor (Virtana) by bundling integration licenses with maintenance renewals and committing money 6 months in advance of allocation. Strategized product roadmaps to release additional $700K in EMC TLA agreements by decommissioning overlapping products.
  • Built and led team in modernizing hybrid environment data collection by redefining department policy per customer requirements and integrating data-gathering solutions with ServiceNow Product Catalog for dependency mapping.
  • Championed initiatives that saved in data storage costs by organizing teams to analyze and address inefficient policies in retention practices.
  • Managed internal efforts to develop department service chargeback models by correlating solution monitoring and storage allocation to CapEx and OpEx costs.
